As one of the world’s largest university booksellers, John Smith’s is leading the way in delivering a broader and more flexible spectrum of services to support the needs of the host institutions and their various constituencies.
Key to our mission is student outcomes and providing institutions with the support to really enhance the student experience.
Our award winning Aspire bursary management system is designed to help institutions and stakeholders make the most of limited student funding. Each student is provided with an account and then the funds deposited into their individual account are channelled toward the acquiring the materials and services that are vital for their academic success.
A recent study undertaken by the Association of Managers of Student Services in Higher Education (AMOSSHE) UK, indicates that students who are able to acquire their books and learning materials are far more likely to succeed than those that do not. However, stakeholders and funding agencies in Higher Education often miss the opportunity to ensure that their students are properly equipped and able to maximise their potential while at University. Our Aspire Bursary management system, supported by JS International’s “one stop shop” retail arm could make a huge difference to your student’s outcomes and ultimate success.
Whatever the model, John Smith’s prides itself on maintaining a high level of contact with all its partner universities, with bookshop managers and staff working hard throughout the academic year to develop and maintain relationships with faculties and lecturers. This effort is intended to ensure that the key Reading Lists which underpin student teaching are based on the most upâtoâdate and accurate information; that they are pointing the students towards the most relevant publications and resources; and that the right stocks of those are available at the right time in each bookshop.
